CAFERWA SARL is a Coffee exporting company started in 1995 with the main objective of exporting coffee to different points of the world. In the year 1998 stops its operations due to the coffee crisis all over the world and it is in the year 2003 that it comes again in coffee export but with different objectives of improving the coffee of the highest quality.
It is that regards that the company buys the biggest coffee washing station located in the western province probably in Nkora with a capacity of producing 500 tons of parchment coffee per season.

The company is currently owned by NKORA WASHING STATION which is the biggest washing station and three more washing stations of 200 MT (metric tones) capacity of parchment coffee each in which two of them are of the long side of Lake Kivu with altitude of over 1500m and other is located in the high altitude of Kigali rural. The production is therefore 500 MT from NKORA, 600 MT from the three washing stations.
The company also own a dry mill station for hulling, grading and packing coffee ready for export. It also has a well equipped cupping laboratory for quality testing and the big roaster machine for roasting coffee in the production of the final product normally sold to the local market.

The CAFERWA works with 750 farmers grouped together in association in Nkora and 250 farmers in Cyangugu as well as 350 farmers in Kigali rural.
The company encourage coffee growers by giving them some incentives to the suppliers in form of bonus (restourne) and the company also supplies fertilizers and others pesticides to the farmers. CAFERWA plans to build dispensary to secure the health of the citizens of region.
Caferwa coffee (in Kinyarwanda: Ikawa y’Urwanda, in French, (Café du Rwanda), in English (Coffee of Rwanda) is a specialty coffee from volcanic soils produced to the shores of Lake Kivu.

Caferwa coffee is therefore produced to the showers of the Lake Kivu within an altitude of 1450-1800 m and the average rainfall of 1250mm.
This coffee is of the great characteristics because of the volcanic soils, clean acidity, full body flavour, and chocolate and fruit aroma.
